Truth is, Genevieve actually sang alongside, Banky W, Chidi Mokeme, AY, Sound Sultan, Ibinabo Fiberesima, Bimbo Akintola, and Monalisa Chinda
They all sang a birthday song, for Nollywood, inimitable actress – Omotola Jalade Ekehinde at a surprise bash organizes for her last night by her husband, Captain Mathew Ekehinde.
When Omotola arrived, Golden Bee Suites, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, straight from the Airport her husband lead her to a room already booked for her. But instead of going through the Front Door, she was lead through the Restaurant. Unknown to her, celebrities, friends and her younger ones stationed themselves quietly in the restaurant waiting anxiously to receiving her.
Immediately she opened the door, everyone sprung up their feet and screamed SURPRISE!..
Omotola almost ran back.
But the pleasant surprise held her back. One after the other, she hugged everyone the hall with an appreciative grin beginning with Ray Murray Bruce. Then she asked for permission to just go in and freshen up for the Party.
Banky W, ceased the break to quickly organize a celebrity rehearsal. For an Acapella rendition of Happy Birthday to You… (You know the song)… Other important personalities that made the surprise party include: Patrick Doyle, Dede Mabiaku, Paster Tessy, and Ronke Apampa.
Members of the ‘Surprise Celebrity Choir’, sang Omotola her birthday song, and she revealed afterwards that her ‘Football Age’, is FIFTEEN. A just before her Birthday Cake was cut, Omotola showed how deeply she appreciated her husband’s surprise when she planted a deep kiss into her husband’s mouth before the guest – twice in 90seconds.
As the couple kissed. The guests cheered. And blinding camera lights flashed to capture the Moment.
Omotola had just returned from Atlanta, USA. She’s been flying for 15hours. But the surprise sight of people that matter most in her life (and maybe the kiss), replenished her energy. She danced. Took happy photos. Shared banters. Smiled at cameras. Took photographs with fans. Granted interviews…. She did every[gleeful]thing.
And, when a reporter asked how he feels having Omotola back home, 5months after, Capt. Ekehinde said:
“What I’ve not been able to do for five months, I must do tonight.”
