A young barber, Nurudeen Nofiu, whose wife, Sola, was delivered of a set of triplets two months ago, has appealed to the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, and kind hearted Nigerians to come to his family's aid to take care of the blessings from God.
The triplets, all males, were delivered at the Lagos Island Maternity in Lagos on June 1, 2016, and since then, Nofiu, who already had a male child, says he has been finding it difficult to cater for the babies.
While speaking to State House correspondents at Alausa, the seat of the state government, Nofiu said he had tried every means to get assistance from the governor and well meaning Nigerians to no avail, hence his decision to come in the public.
“I work as a barber and my wife is a petty trader. It is extremely difficult for us to take proper care of the triplet and their mother financially with what we earn from our businesses.
We wrote a letter to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in Alausa, Ikeja on June 22, soliciting for their assistance both morally and financially.
The Ministry called me towards the end of July requesting to know my wife's occupation and I told them she is a petty trader and since then, I have not heard anything from them.
I would be glad if Governor Ambode and other well-meaning residents of the state could come to our aid at this time of need.
My income is too meager to sustain the family. All the efforts I have made have not paid off and we seriously need extra support so that the children would not die.”
We are also calling on well-meaning Nigerians to, as usual, lend a helping hand to these young family to take care of the babies.
The parents of the child can be reached on 08023863014 or08038274440, while donations can be paid into this Access Bank account number: 0038122390.
